The Ybema’s Mill is a 19th century water mill which was used as a water pump to lower the ground water level in the Brouwersdyk area. The mill was built in 1899, and was in use until 1951. The condition of the mill quickly began to decay, and suffered serious damage in 1963 when the mill was struck by lightning. In 2001, the mill was bought by the Nijfurd Mill Foundation, and restored. The Ybema’s Mill is open to the public.
