The Windmotor 1 is the last remaining mill of its kind in the Netherlands. It was built in 1929 by a German mill-making company. The mill is relatively small, with a flight of just 6 metres. The Windmotor 1 is now maintained by the Fryslan Mill foundation. The Windmotor 1 was built to an American design known as the ’U.S. Wind Engine’. The mill is still in use today, although it is not currently open to the public.
