The Warkense Mill was built in 1878 by the mill-maker Loman of Deventer, for the land owner H. J. Nijendijk. The mill was upgraded to use a petrol motor in 1899, and was expanded in 1922 with the addition of an external engine room. In 1994 ownership of the mill was transferred to the Warkense Mill Foundation, who have restored the mill and now run it on a voluntary basis. The mill is open to the public every Saturday.
