The Tjasker Zeijen Mill was used to drain the nearby peat bogs, so that the peat could be dug up to be used as fuel. The mill is still working today, but the peat is no longer used as fuel, instead the mill is just used to manage the water levels in the area. The Tjasker Zeijen is now owned by the Canberra Mill foudnation, and is ran on a voluntary basis by a small group of local residents.
