The Walderveense Mill was built in 1895 to replace an old, decaying post mill. The building was almost totally destroyed in a fire in 1911, but was re-built on the original foundation in 1912, using parts gathered from other mills from around the country. The mill functioned as a military lookout during the Second World War, and was used by both German and Canadian forces. Tours of the Walderveense Mill are available by appointment.
