The Watcher Mill was built in 1851 as a corn and oil mill for the Van Bon family. In 1895, the mill was bought by Jan Medendorp, who upgraded it to use a steam motor. Between 1930 and 1950, the mill was gradually closed down, and some sections were demolished. In 1989 the De Wachter Mill Foundation restored the mill complex, and re-opened it as a museum, which displays devoted to a variety of traditional crafts, including a replica spice mill, blacksmiths forge, and bakery.
