The Star Mill was built in 1851 on behalf of P. G. Wildevuld, to replace a two-centuries old post mill that had previously stood on the same site. The mill was sold to the municipality of Winsum in 1961. The following year, a large restoration project began. The project was completed in 1971. The mill is currently cared for by Mr Hans Vink. Tours of The Star Mill are available by appointment only.
