The Palen Mill is an historic water mill located on Palenweg in the town of Westerwijtwerd. The mill was built in 1882, and was originally used to drain the 118 hectare Palen Polder. In 1971, the mill was decommissioned, and it stood idle until 1991, when it was restored by the Palen Water Board. The Palen Mill is now used as a reserve pump, and is open to the public, although in most cases an appointment is required.
