For many years there were two famous mills in Utrecht, The New Mill, and The Old Mill. The New Mill was built in 1911, to replace a much older post mill that had been built by the Van Edden family. The Old Mill was a horse-powered oil mill. It was built in the 18th century, and was demolished in 1991, to be replaced by a small monument. The New Mill is still in working order today, and is open to the public.
