The Industry was built in 1838 in the town of Nieuwerkerk. It was moved to Zuidwolde in 1878 to replace an 18th century post mill that had been destroyed in a fire the previous year. The relocation was performed by mill-maker C. H. Schiller from Dalfsen. The Industry Mill was decommissioned during World War Two, and stood idle until 1960, when it was restored by its new owner, and re-opened. The mill is still in use today.
