The Hope Mill

The De Hoop, or ’The Hope’ mill was built in 1863 to replace an older mill that had been destroyed by flooding in 1961. The mill was originally owned by Mr H. van der Miejden, and was sold to Mr W. van Herpen in 1868. The mill was sold to the current owner, Mr J. Verweij, in 1973, and has since then been ran on a voluntary basis. The mill is open to the public every Saturday, with tours available on other days by appointment only.
