The Charity is a traditional grain mill that was built 1866 to replace a much older, smaller mill from the 17th century. The mill is sometimes known by its other name ’The Young Jan’, which was given to it by the miller Jan Smid in 1962, to honour his grandchild. The mill is open to the public two days a week, with tours available on other days by appointment only. Admission to the mill is free. The current miller is Mr B. D. Poppen.
