The Bol Mill was built in 1867 to replace a small wooden mill that had been destroyed by a fire during the summer of 1865. The mill was owned by Prince Bernhardfonds until 1963, when it was scheduled to be given away as part of a lottery. The winner was a handicapped man from Friesland, who was unable to claim the prize, so accepted money instead. The mill was eventually sold to a family from Amsterdam, who restored the building, and converted it into a house. The mill is still used as a private residence today.
