The Aeolus Mill in Vlaardingen was built in 1790, it replaced an older Palestinian stone mill. The mill was damaged in a fire in 1797, and was subsequently restored by Jan van der Mey. The mill was briefly owned by the Boekestijn family, who ran a thriving business, but their trade ended abruptly when one of the family died. In 2002, the town bought the mill, and it was restored in 2005. The mill has a small shop in the basement. Tours of the mill are available by appointment.
