The Stedelijk Museum in Zwolle consists of two buildings, one built in 1997, the other dating back to the 16th century. The museum looks at the history of the province, and its capitol in particular, and features a variety of items from archaeological finds to artwork. The new wing hosts several temporary exhibitions throughout the year. In the summer months, the terraces of the museum’s cafe serve as a good place to enjoy the view of the displays in the garden.
