The Sassenpoort is a Saxon Gate which is located at the end of Sassenstraat in Zwolle. It was originally constructed to guard the southern entrance of the town, and is the town’s only surviving medieval gate. It was constructed in 1408, and is a heavy brick building with five spires and an intimidating appearance. It is now used as a visitors’ centre, and features exhibits concerning the history of the town.
