The first written record of the Wenumse Mill was in 1313, when it was refered to as the ’Wenumse Saatmolen’. The water mill was originally owned by the Duke of Gelderse, who gave the mill to the Convent of Monnikhuizen as a leasehold. Since then, the mill has had several owners. In 1979 the Wenumse Water Mill Foundation took over the management of the mill. It is now ran on a voluntary basis, and is open to the public every Saturday, with visits possible on other days by appointment.
