The original Nooit Gedagt mill was destroyed by German forces during the Second World War, because they did not want to allow the Allies to use it as a lookout. In 1972, it was decided that a replica should be built. It took several years to gather the required funding, and work did not begin until 1990. In 1996, the new mill was officially opened. The Noot Gedagt mill is open to the public every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
