The Nooit Gedacht Mill was built in 1916. It is third mill to have been built in the area, the first mill was built in 1862, and was destroyed by a fire in 1904. The mill that replaced the first one lasted only 12 years before being struck by lightning, and also destroyed. The Nooit Gedacht mill is located near the New Amsterdam railway station. The mill is currently idle, and is in need of extensive restoration work.
