The Masterveen Mill is a modern ’Tjasker’ design of watermill. The Masterveen Mill was built in 1983, and is used as a drainage mill to allow peat to be gathered from the marsh surrounding the mill. The Masterveen Mill was built by a group of volunteers as part of the Vries Cultural Work Foundation. The mill is owned by the Drenthe Mill Foundation, and is ran by a small group of local residents.
