The Jopie Huisman Museum in Workum is a museum devoted to paintings by Huisman, a local contemporary artist and scrap merchant whose works focus on ordinary Frisian life. Jopie Huisman was a self-educated man who lived from 1922 to 2000, and he museum has a large collection of works, including self portraits and paintings from the early years of his carreer. He was renowned for his realistic yet unpretentious paintings of the world around him.
