The Hackfortermolen was built in 1850 for the Baron of Hackfort. The mill was in active use until the early 1920s, when it was briefly decommissioned and entered a period of decline. The Baron of Hackfort arranged for the mill to be restored during World War Two, but the mill was again closed down in the 1950s. Today, the mill is ran on a voluntary basis, and is maintained by the Vordense Mill Foundation. Tours of the mill are available by appointment.
