The Grote Kerk is located in the centre of the Grote Markt in Zwolle. It is a large, sandstone building, and could be classed as one of the unluckiest churches in the country, having been hit by lightning three times in less than 150 years. Inside the church there are some fine examples of Renaissance carving, and a fine organ that dates back to 1721, and consists of an impressive four thousand pipes. The rest of the church is of a quite simple and sparse design compared to other Dutch churches.
