The De Ruiter Mill is a non-working tower mill located on Nigtevechtseweg in the town of Vreeland. Wind power was used by the Dutch people for several centuries – some mills were used to grind grain, while others were used to drain the land of water to make inhabitable sections of land known as polders. The De Ruiter Mill is no longer used, but visitors can still learn a lot about wind power and its significance in Dutch history.
