The ’De Koker’ Mill was built in 1866 and was originally used as a pelmolen, to strip barley and other grains. The mill was also known as ’The Black Stallion’ mill. In 1928, the mill was decommissioned because of it’s poor condition. It was restored by The Zaansche Mill foundation in 1944. More restoration work was carried out in 1988, and since then the mill has been ran on a regular basis. The mill is open to the public.
