The De Hoop Polder Mill was built in 1894 by famous dutch mill-maker Ritsema, following a commission by Mr G. J. Nijland. The mill was originally called the ’Hoop op Beter’, or ’Hope For Better’. The mill has had several owners, with the most recent being the Snijders family. The mill was restored by the De Hoop Windmill Foundation, led by Herman Snijders in 1998. Tours of the mill are available by appointment only.
