The De Hoop corn mill was built in 1838 for William Ambrose, and remained in the ambrose family for 90 years before being sold to Johan van Ballegooijen. In 1956, the De Hoop mill was bought by the town of Veen, and in 1965 it was given to the Country van Heusden and Altena Mill Society, who are now responsible for the preservation of the mill. The De Hoop corn mill is open to the public.
