The De Hoop Mill was built in 1742 to serve the 1860 hectare Wieringerwaard polder. The mill was closed down in 1920, when a diesel engine took over the duties of the mill. Today, the mill is owned by the Municipality Anna Paulowna. In January 2007, the mill suffered serious damage during a storm. The mill has since been restored, and is open to the public every Saturday. Tours are available on other days by appointment.
