The De Hoop Mill was built in 1889 to replace an older corn mill that had proven too small to meet the demands of its owners, Jan and Cornelis Vlaar. The new mill was in active commercial use until the early 1970s, when it was closed down for restoration. Since then, the mill has been used to provide flour for local bakeries. The mill is now owned by the Wervershoof Mill Foundation, and is open to the public.
