The ’Held Jozua’, or ’Joshua Hero’ mill is a traditional saw mill located on the Westzijderveld, around 300 metres northwest of the Zaandam station. The mill was was built in 1719, and was in use until 1946. When the mill was closed down, its condition began to rapidly decay. The outer buildings of the mill complex were recently converted to a restaurant. The mill itself is owned by the Jozua Held Foundation, and is open to the public every Saturday.
