A group of Aboriginal art enthusiasts set up an association in 1999 which created the foundation for the Aboriginal Art Museum. The museum opened in March 2001, and celebrates the diversity of Australian Aboriginal art. The museum displays work from several different regions of Australia, and includes work by urban artists. There are temporary exhibitions that look more closely at the work of specific artists, and examine the differences between modern life and Aboriginal traditions.
