The Ypey-Mole was built in 1858 as a small polder mill in the Vijversburg park in Zwartewegsend. The mill was used to drain the park, and the surrounding farmland. In 1958, the mill was decommissioned. The Ypey-Mole mill was almost destroyed when some local children accidentally set fire to it. Fortunately, the fire was quickly extinguished, so the damage was minimal. The mill was bought by the Fryske Mill Foundation in 1982. The Ypey-Mole is open to the public.
