The Valkkoog polder mill is a 16th century water mill that was built to serve the 535 hectare Raakmats and Niedorperkoggeboezem Polders. The mill is a very prominent part of the landscape of the hamlet, and is a common sight on postcards of the area. The Valkkoog polder mill is now owned by the Hollands Noorderkwartier company. The mill is now used in conjunction with a small electric pump to drain one of the smaller village polders.
