The Zaandplatte Mill was built in 1866, as an ocatgonal wooden belt-mill, with a reed-covered hood. The mill was built by the mill-maker Mr. Zilverberg for the Van Holthe family. In 1964, the mill was moved to a new location in the town of Ruinen. The mill is now ran on a voluntary basis. The Zaanplatte Mill is located near a popular cycle path, and is open to the public several days a week during the summer.
