The Schalsumermolen is an historic polder mill located on Rijksstraatweg in the town of Schalsum. The mill was built in 1801 to serve the Great Shalsumer polder. The mill was decommissioned in 1970, and was bought by the Fryske Mill foundation in 1977. The foundation restored the mill in 1979. The Schalsumermolen is open to the public every Saturday, and contains an exhibition of a small collection of historic mill related items. Tours of the Schalsumermolen can be arranged upon request.
