The Rolde Mill was built in 1863 by the mill-maker Hunse te Assen, for Mr. Smit, who had recently lost his corn mill following a serious fire. The mill has had several owners, including J. Rijkens, and the Schuiling family. In 1968, the mill was sold to the town. Some minor restoration work was carried out in the year 2000, and the mill is now maintained by Mr. H. Hilbrand. Tours of the mill are available by appointment only.
