The Retranchement Mill is an open post mill that dates back to the mill 17th century. The first mention of the mill appeared in a resolution of the Council of State on July 24th 1643, giving Mr Bartholomew de Vos permission to construct a mill. Since then, the mill has had several owners. It was recently bought by the Sluis County, who have temporarily strengthened the wooden structure pending a full restoration. The mill is open to the public on Wednesdays and Saturdays during the summer months.
