The Pioneer Mill was built in 1859 for use as a corn mill, and was responsible for grinding the grain for several farms in the surrounding area. The mill was restored in 1975, and again in 2007. It is an 8-sided stellingmolen, which is a fairly common design for Dutch mills, as a stellingmolen is taller than a standard windmill, and has higher sails, which are able to capture more wind, and run more efficiently. The mill is now a part of the Slagharen Attraction Park.
