The North Mill was built in 1803. At the time of its construction, it was the tallest mill in the world, with the sails having a flight of 26.6 metres. The corn mill was decommissioned in 1937, and bought by the town of Schiedam eight years later. The mill was restored to working order in 1962. The three lower attics attics in the mill are now used to house a restaurant called ’The Noordmolen’.
