The Klaarkampstermeermolen is an historic water mill located near Trekweg in the town of Rinsumageest. The mill was built in 1893, and a small barn was added to it by Feitse Boersma in 1893. The Klaarkampstermeermolen was restored in 1991, and is now owned by the Staatsbosbeheer company. Water mills were used to reclaim large areas of land known as ’polders’, by pumping the sea water away from the land, and blocking the land off from the water with a network of dikes.
