The Distilleerketel
Voorhaven 210, 3024 RR Rotterdam - Netherlands

Map
The first Distilleerketel was built in 1727 by Ary Somwijle, but the current building is much newer. The 18th century one was destroyed by a fire in 1901, and rebuilt the following year. During the Second World War, the corn mill was used as a base of operations for Dutch Marines, and suffered heavy damage from incoming fire. In 1986, the remains of the mill were demolished, and the Distilleerketel was moved to its current location. The mill is open to the public every Wednesday and Saturday.
