The Strijkmolen L was built in 1631, and is one of the the oldest remaining Strijkmolen mills in the town of Rustenburg. The mill worked in conjunction with two other mills to drain the Heerhugowaard and Raakmaatsboezem polders. In 1941, the Strijkmolen L was closed down, and converted to a dwelling. The Strijkmolen L is still used as a private home today, although some of its neighbours have recently been restored and re-opened. The mill is currently maintained by the Schermer Mills Foundation.
