The history of the Stevertse Corn Mill can be traced back to 1339, when the first mill was constructed on the site. In 1702, this mill was destroyed during an invasion by the French and Spanish. The mill was re-built in 1742, and the original water-wheel was replaced with current one in 1878. The mill was closed down in 1969, after part of the river bed was dug out, making the water level too low for the mill to function effectively. While the mill no longer works, and the mill house has been demolished, you can still see the mill itself, and the water wheel, in their original place.
