The ’Kruitmagazijn to Spaarnwoude’ is a defence battery located on Kerkweg in the town of Spaarnwoude. The defence batteries were constructed under the direction of General A. Croiset at the beginning of the 19th century. This particular battery was constructed in 1809, and is the only one which is still intact. It is a UNESCO protected monument, and an interesting example of Dutch military history.
