Orvelte is an open air village-museum located on the outskirts of Schoonoord. It is a fully operational village, and is actually inhabited, and all the buildings are working reconstructions of traditional trade and craft buildings from the seventeenth through to nineteenth century. The buildings include a tollhouse, a dairy, a farmhouse, and a number of workshops. Orvelte is quite out of the way, however it is served by public transport and is well worth a visit.
