The Museum Klooster in Ter Apel is a museum housed in a converted monastery. Once the monatery of Crutched Friars, constructed in 1465, it is one of the few rural monasteries that survived the Reformation. The chapel has been carefully restored, and includes a number of interesting features, such as the tripartite sedila, where the priest and his assistants would sit during Mass, and a rood screen that separates the chancel from the nave. The wings are a mix of Gothic and Rococo styles, and the cloister features a herb garden.
