The Museum Het Schielandshuis is an anomaly amongs the high-rise towers and office buildings in Rotterdam. The city’s sole surviving 17th century building, Het Schielandshuis has been carefully restored and now serves as a museum. The rooms inside are period reconstructions, furnished with items rescued from mansions destroyed during World War II. The museum hosts a collection of clothing from the 18th century, and ’The Atlas Van Stolk’, a collection of prints, drawings and maps relating to Dutch history.
