The Holtermansmolen was built in 1987 to replace an older mill that had been destroyed by a fire. The mill was built by the Terwoldse Mill Foundation, and used many parts from the older mill, in an attempt to make as close a replica as possible. The original mill had been built in 1896, and belonged to the Dieperink family. The replica mill was officially opened in 1990, and is now used to serve bakeries in the local area. The mill is open to the public two days each week. Current opening times are listed on the mill web site.
