The ECI – Central plant is an hydro-electric generating plant in the centre of the town of Roermond. The plant was originally ran by the Electric Chemical Industry, but the company closed down in 1974. The ECI – Central plant is considered to be a monument of great cultural value because of its rarity, and the history of the ECI company. The plant was restored and re-opened in 2000, and is open to the public on selected public holidays.
