The De Hoop mill was built in 1914 by L. Reinds of Beilen. The mill was built for miller H. Berends, and was a replacement for an older, smaller mill that had been destroyed in a fire. The mill is now owned by Mr. G. Hidding. In 1976, the mill-maker J. D. Medendorp was contracted to carry out extensive restoration work on the mill. The restoration work took several years, as there were problems obtaining the funding required to complete the work.
